Finish OverviewWhat is the As Machined Finish?
The as machined finish is the standard surface condition of a part immediately after CNC processing, without bead blasting, polishing, anodizing, or other secondary finishing processes. The surface retains the texture, tool marks, and machining pattern generated during milling, turning, or CNC machining.
This finish is widely used on CNC machined parts, functional prototypes, internal components, tooling, fixtures, and industrial parts where the main priorities are dimensional precision, manufacturing speed, and cost efficiency rather than a refined cosmetic appearance.
Because it does not require additional finishing operations, the as machined condition often offers faster lead times and lower manufacturing cost for functional components and low-volume production.
