Hardware insertion is a secondary operation used to install mechanical components in parts manufactured through CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet metal bending, injection molding, or 3D printing. This process allows threads, mounting points, spacers, alignment pins, bushings, and functional elements to be added without relying solely on the base material of the part.
It is widely used in CNC machined parts, sheet metal fabrication, plastic components, electronic housings, brackets, panels, fixtures, industrial assemblies, and products requiring repeatable mounting.
Correct hardware selection depends on the material, thickness, expected load, installation method, tolerances, tool access, and final assembly function.
