-75.16%C360 brass (UNS C36000, also called 360 brass) is a free-cutting brass: a copper-zinc alloy with 2.5–3.0% lead. The lead breaks the chip, so it turns fast, with clean threads and an excellent finish. That is why it is used for fittings, nipples, valves, bushings, threaded inserts, connectors and instrument parts. C360 brass is chosen for turned parts with many operations: threads, grooves, holes and fine details. Its lead breaks the chip and allows fast cutting with a good finish. It comes in round, hex and square bar.

C360 is chosen when a part needs a lot of machining and has to resist corrosion from water and air.
If your drawing doesn’t specify tolerances, we machine to ISO 2768-m (medium). On dimensions you call out —holes, fits and datum surfaces— we can hold ±0.025 mm (±0.001 in), and critical dimensions are checked in inspection. C360 is stable and doesn’t move when cut, so it holds tight tolerances well.
The lead doesn’t dissolve in the brass: it stays as very fine particles spread through the metal. When cutting, those particles break the chip and lubricate the edge, which is why C360 machines fast with a good finish. That same lead is what keeps it from being fusion welded and rules it out for drinking-water parts.
C360 machines very well in CNC turning, CNC milling, drilling and tapping.
C360 is not recommended for fusion welding.
Because it is free machining, C360 is used in many turned CNC machined components.
C360 is often the right choice when a part is turned, has threads or many operations, and won’t be in contact with drinking water.
