-66.75%304L stainless steel (UNS S30403, ASTM A276 / A240) is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel: about 18% chromium, 8% nickel and 0.03% carbon max. That very low carbon is what makes it good for welding: the weld zone keeps its corrosion resistance. That is why it is used for flanges, fittings, tanks and parts that go into a welded assembly. 304L is chosen when the part has to resist corrosion, be welded and be cleaned often.
If your drawing doesn’t specify tolerances, we machine to ISO 2768-m (medium). On dimensions you call out —diameters, holes, threads and fits— we can hold ±0.025 mm (±0.001 in), and critical dimensions are checked in inspection.
304L is machined with CNC turning, CNC milling, drilling and tapping. Because it work hardens, every pass has to cut below the hardened layer.
304L is welded with TIG, MIG or stick, usually with 308L filler.
Because it resists corrosion and welds well, 304L is used in many parts made with CNC machining.
