To quote we need the real geometry of the part. With a 3D STEP file we check manufacturability, define the process and estimate times without asking for dimensions one by one. If you also have a 2D drawing, upload it: it speeds up the review when there are tight tolerances or threads.
Formats you can upload
- 3D model: STEP and STP (recommended), STL and 3MF. Up to 150 MB per file.
- Flat parts: DXF and DWG.
- Drawings and references: PDF, PNG, JPG, WEBP and TIFF.
- Native files (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, NX, Creo, Parasolid, IGES or a ZIP): we receive them and keep them with your quote, but to view and analyze them in 3D we will ask for the STEP.
Why we recommend STEP
STEP is a neutral format: every CAD system exports it (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Onshape, CATIA) and it keeps exact geometry —planes, cylinders, radii—. Dimensions and review come out more accurate with it.
STL and 3MF
They are triangle meshes: perfect for 3D printing. They work for CNC machining too, but with a STEP the engineering review is faster and more exact.
What does not replace 3D
A photo, a sketch or a PDF without dimensions is not enough for an accurate quote. We can take them as reference in a manual quote, and the result is an estimate we confirm once the model exists.
