A 3D model states the shape, but not how precise each dimension must be, which thread a hole takes or how a surface should look. When those requirements exist, you need the drawing.
Upload a 2D drawing if the part has
- Tolerances tighter than the general one on specific dimensions.
- Internal or external threads, especially non-standard ones.
- A surface roughness requirement different from the standard.
- Engraving, laser marking or text.
- Assembly instructions with other components.
- Areas where a finish applies only to certain faces.
What rules if they differ
If the model and drawing disagree, the drawing rules for what the drawing states and the model for everything else. If we find a contradiction before manufacturing, we flag it in the review and nothing is made until it is resolved. That is what our Manufacturing Standards say.
Drawing formats
PDF (recommended), DWG, DXF or an image (PNG, JPG, WEBP or TIFF).
